CA Foundation is the entry-level stage of the Chartered Accountancy course conducted by ICAI. It is designed to build strong fundamentals in commerce, quantitative skills, business laws and economics before students progress to CA Intermediate.
Topics Included:
The course consists of four subjects: Accounting, Business Laws, Quantitative Aptitude (Mathematics, Logical Reasoning & Statistics), and Business Economics.
Exam Pattern:
Examinations are conducted three times a year – January, May and September. The Foundation examination contains both subjective and objective papers, with 0.25 negative marking for incorrect MCQs.
Passing Marks:
Minimum 40% in each subject and 50% aggregate overall.

Ankit Patwari is a qualified CA, CPA (US), and B.Com (Hons in Finance) from St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata. He founded Balaji Educare and has been teaching since 2009. Praveen Patwari is a Qualified Chartered Accountant and a FRM who has cleared 14 out of 15 Actuarial Science papers. He began teaching in high school and has trained 5000+ students. His journey demonstrates persistence, discipline, and deep knowledge, making him a sought-after speaker. Hitika Sonthalia is a Qualified Chartered Accountant with professional experience across audit, FMCG, financial analysis, strategy, and performance consulting. At Actuators, she teaches CA Foundation and the REG (Regulation) section of the US CPA, bringing a practical, structured, and concept-driven approach to her classes.
Parishi Dhandhania is a Qualified Chartered Accountant currently associated with EY GDS and an alumna of St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata.
