Responsibilities:

  • Risk Assessment: Conduct comprehensive risk assessments for crop insurance, evaluating policy vulnerabilities and assessing climate-related risks and crop loss probabilities.
  • Model Development: Build and maintain actuarial models for pricing, reserving, and forecasting of crop insurance products. Ensure models are robust, accurate, and align with industry best practices.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze large datasets involving crop production, weather patterns, and market data to determine probabilities and costs. Utilize advanced data analytics techniques for precise projections.
  • Policy Design: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, test, and price crop insurance policies. Ensure policies comply with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Reporting: Prepare clear and concise reports, presenting complex data and actuarial findings to non-technical stakeholders, helping them make informed decisions.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay informed on regulatory developments related to crop insurance and ensure that all actuarial processes and policies are compliant.

Requirements:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related fields.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in actuarial analysis, preferably within crop insurance or agricultural risk management. Completion of actuarial exams is strongly preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in statistical software such as Excel, SQL, and experience with actuarial tools. Strong grasp of advanced analytics, such as time series regression and other predictive modeling techniques.
