CFA Level I is the first stage of the CFA Program and focuses on building fundamental knowledge across finance, investment analysis and ethical standards. It provides candidates with a broad understanding of the concepts and tools used in investment decision-making.

Exam Pattern
Passing Requirement
Candidates must meet the Minimum Passing Score (MPS) determined for the CFA examination. The brochure shows an approximate historical passing rate of 40% for Level I; this is a passing rate, not a fixed passing mark.
Ankit Patwari is a qualified CA, CPA (US), and B.Com (Hons in Finance) from St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata. He founded Balaji Educare and has been teaching since 2009. With over 18 years of experience, he has guided 10,000+ students in CA, CFA, Actuaries and US CPA. He specialises in Accounting, Costing and Finance and is also a Google Certified Trainer. His expertise has led him to guest faculty positions at various educational institutes.
Praveen Sancheti is a qualified Chartered Accountant (AIR 11 and AIR 15), CFA (All levels cleared) with a stellar record of academic success, having conquered Actuarial Science with AIR 1 in 4 sittings. Besides a rich background in Investment Banking and Investment Management spanning over 7 years, Praveen’s passion for teaching since childhood led him to co-found Actuators in 2015. Praveen spearheads the teaching of CP1, one of the lengthiest papers in the Actuarial curriculum, delivering complex concepts in a simple and effective manner that resonates with students, particularly those who are balancing work commitments.
Praveen also serves as a mentor to aspiring professionals. Determined to motivate and support the upcoming generation of Actuarial and Finance experts, Praveen aims to create a lasting impact through knowledge and mentorship.
Piyanka Baheti is an Actuarial Aspirant with 8/13 actuarial papers cleared and has also cleared CFA Level 2. She secured AIR 2 in ISC 2022 and has a strong academic foundation in mathematics, finance, and actuarial science. Currently associated with Acies, she brings a combination of academic excellence and practical industry exposure. At Actuators, she focuses on delivering concept-based learning with a structured and exam-oriented approach.
Adarsh Agrawal is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries and a FRM charter holder, ranking within the top quartile. He has cleared all levels of CFA and holds a B.Com (Hons) degree from St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata. A multiple-time top scorer in actuarial subjects like CT1, CT3, CT5, CP1, and CP2, Adarsh has over 6 years of experience as an actuarial consultant. He is driven by a passion for teaching, aiming to impart knowledge that goes beyond exam success and enriches learners for life.
Vanshika Jhajharia is a financial analysis professional with 5+ years of experience, currently a Manager in Ratings at Crisil Ratings Ltd., specializing in credit risk assessment and financial modeling. She previously worked as a Product Control Analyst at Barclays, honing her analytical skills. A CFA and FRM charterholder, she has cleared 11 actuarial science papers and holds a BCom in Accounting and Finance from St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata. She is recognized for her analytical abilities, attention to detail, and effective communication of complex financial concepts.
Sourav Khaitan is a finance and risk management expert with FRM certification and progress in actuarial exams. He is a pending CFA charterholder with experience in insurance and financial services, specializing in risk management, actuarial analysis, and financial modeling. Currently at ICICI Prudential Life Insurance, he combines actuarial science with business strategy to improve data-driven decision-making and risk assessment.
