SOA PAF & ASF – Pre-Actuarial Foundations and Actuarial Science Foundations
Build Strong Foundations in Actuarial Professionalism, Risk Management, Business Applications and Professional Communication
Pre-Actuarial Foundations (PAF) and Actuarial Science Foundations (ASF) are two e-learning modules offered by the Society of Actuaries (SOA), USA, as part of the educational pathway towards the Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) designation.
Together, these modules introduce the professional responsibilities of an actuary and develop the practical skills required to apply actuarial concepts to real-world business problems.
PAF focuses on actuarial professionalism, the role of actuaries, financial security systems, communication, emotional intelligence and professional development.
ASF builds upon these foundations and focuses on the Actuarial Control Cycle, external business influences, actuarial problem-solving, modelling, assumptions and solution development.
The combined course develops professional judgement, risk assessment, business analysis, actuarial modelling and communication skills, preparing students for practical actuarial work and further professional assessments.
